Day 9...Monday May 31 2010

Up early, and headed for home! I couldn't wait to get back to Erik and our 5 boys! This was a fantastic trip, no car problems, 99% perfect weather and nothing negative to report! New Mexico had the most courteous drivers, Missouri the most rude. The worst traffic was in Denver. Starting miles: 53902, ending: 57340. (3438 total miles!) 10 states in 9 days! Here are a few "odd" things I saw during my trip...

Thanks for looking at my blog! Hope you enjoyed the pictures! Erik and I are plannning a trip to the Smokey Mountains this fall. I'll be sure to post pictures then!

Day 8...Sunday May 30 2010

Started out the morning by getting bit by a HUGE mosquito!! I had just taken all my morning meds so he was feeling no pain! hahahaha Off I went from Blackwell, OK through Kansas on I35N. Got on the Kansas Turnpike, then to I70E in Salina. Once I hit Topeka, I took all small backroads through the rest of Kansas and into Missouri.
This guy was a stitch! He reminded me of Regis!

Of course, I hit a HUGE thunderstorm in Kansas! I was waiting to see Dorothy, Toto and The Tin Man! :) It was over in about an hour and I continued into Missouri.

Somewhere near Leavenworth, on the backroads, I saw this...I wasn't worried..I knew "Cactus Boy" would protect me! :)
The backroads of Missouri were fun! Rolling hills, and beautiful scenery! >

Back into Iowa...
I made it to Osceola and stopped for the night. The weather today was HOT and HUMID...high somewhere in the 90's...I want to go back to New Mexico!!

Day 7... Saturday May 29, 2010

I slept SO good last night!! Must've been the story about the bobcats! Off I go to get through Texas and into Oklahoma.

Texas and Oklahoma were very similar. Saw a lot of:

Clinton, Oklahoma was a fun town! I was traveling the old "Route 66" and came across the Route 66 Museum! You know I had to check that out!! It was a blast! From the hula hoops to the 12 cent a gallon gas tank...

Now...time for a car wash...

Get some fruits and veggies to munch on at "Homeland", the local grocery store...

Then, ice for the cooler...

The weather is great, sunny and warm. High around 89. I MISS THE MOUNTAINS!!!!

The rest of the day was heading east on I40, to Oklahoma City, then turning north on I35. I made it to Blackwell, Oklahoma and pulled over for the night.
