Some of the highlights of the day: As I drove through Winterset, Iowa, I saw a sign that said, "Birthplace of John Wayne, 13 miles". In the scheme of things, that wasn't far at all so I took the sidetrip! When I saw the statue of him in the town square, I got goosebumps! Saw the house he was born in, and then, toured some of the "Bridges of Madison County". They were fantastic and the countryside was beautiful!
I kept running into a very nice older couple, traveling from N.C. By the time I left, I had made some new friends!
